Jodie McGuren is an oil painter and calligrapher based in Cobbitty, NSW. She regularly completes oil paintings, pastel drawings and calligraphy work for private clients throughout Australia and internationally. Samples of her work can be seen on this website and through her instagram account @jodie_mcguren_art and @cobbitty_calligraphic.
Jodie can be commissioned for portraits of people or pets, from life or from photographs* (see conditions below). If you would like your subject to sit for the painting, this will require at least 2 x three-hour sittings to form a study that will be completed in Jodie's studio.
Oil paintings take a long time to dry (at least 6 months to fully dry and be varnished), so if time is an issue you may prefer to ask Jodie for a pastel portrait or still life. Clients are expected to arrange their own framing. The painting can be safely packed and mailed and the postage costs will be added to the final invoice.
Prices vary depending on the complexity of the request. See fee structure to give you an indication of pricing.
Jodie paints portraits or still lifes in sizes ranging from A5 to A3. Larger formats will be discussed with the client individually to see if they are appropriate for the subject.
*Note: Adequate photographic reference will need to be provided. You will need to provide as many reference photos as possible and pick the one most suitable for painting. It is preferable to have a photo that has strong light and dark contrast with one light source on the subject, and no flash. If there is not an adequate photo available, and having the subject sit for a the painting is not possible, Jodie may unfortunately have to decline the commission.
